IPL Rejuvenation

If you have any concerns about redness or pigmentation, and crave bright, clear, beautiful skin for your wedding day, then Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin rejuvenation is the answer.

Highly controlled flashes of filtered light are directed on to the skin in our Perth clinic and absorbed by the melanin in pigment spots and the blood in superficial blood vessels. The heat selectively destroys the pigment or vascular lesion while the surrounding tissue is undamaged.

You will feel a mild stinging sensation during the treatment, and afterwards you may experience some redness and a feeling akin to sunburn, however this should resolve within an hour or two. You can even wear mineral based makeup straight away if you wish, and we can apply this for you before you leave.

Within a few days you’ll notice your pigmentation and vascular activity darken (don’t panic, it’s meant to), and then in the following week it will flake off, revealing amazingly clear skin. As an added bonus, the heat in the dermis stimulates a healing response in the skin giving a fantastic boost in collagen production which could lessen fine lines and wrinkles.

You can read Raychael's review of her IPL experience and watch her IPL treatment being done.

Wrinkle Relaxers

Wrinkle relaxers are an injectable treatment that you might know by another name. Australian law prohibits us from using the name of prescription drugs, so we refer to them as wrinkle relaxers.

If you’ve not had wrinkle relaxers before the idea of them can be rather daunting, with some people worried they will be frozen in to an expressionless state. But rest assured, our doctors and nurses are highly skilled in creating a natural look with our wrinkle relaxers, and six months out from your wedding is a perfect time to try them for the first time.

This extremely safe and effective method of reducing or even eliminating facial lines and wrinkles is popular for crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines. Wrinkle relaxers can also be used to reduce a gummy smile and can give the appearance of an eye lift in some circumstances.

The relaxant blocks the nerve impulse to the muscle thus preventing movement. The effects take between two and ten days to appear and usually last three to four months. There is no down time associated with wrinkle relaxers, although some mild bruising can occur at the site of injection and we recommend no intense physical activity for the rest of the day.

Nine Months until I DO

Do you long for a flat stomach or slim arms on your wedding day but have bumps and bulges that persist despite diet and exercise? CoolSculpting is the treatment for you.

CoolSculpting is a non invasive treatment that freezes and destroys fat cells delivering clinically proven results similar to liposuction but without the need for a general anaesthetic, needles, and with practically no down time.

Depending on the number of areas to be treated, CoolSculpting takes from as little as one hour. During this time you can use our free wifi to watch a movie, send emails to your bridesmaids, or browse Pinterest and Instagram looking for wedding inspo.

Whilst some people see results in as little as three weeks, generally it takes a two to three months for the results to be noticeable, which is why we recommend you come in nine months prior to your wedding to allow time for dress and suit fittings around your new shape.

Areas that can be treated include abdomen, back, hips, inner thighs, outer thighs, love handles, man boobs, upper arms and that stubborn double chin.

IPL Hair Removal

Ditch the razor and find out first hand how freeing IPL Hair Removal is. The days of painful waxing, ingrown hairs, razor nicks and stubble will be gone before you know it.

There is a huge variation in the quality IPL machines available, with prices varying from $10,000 up to $150,000. At Skin Resus we have invested heavily in medical strength IPL to give our clients the best experience. The choice of wavelengths and the chilled handpiece of the Starlux machines ensure safe, effective and comfortable IPL hair removal. To add to your confidence, all our IPL treatments are carried out by our skilled Nurses.

IPL only works on hairs in the growth phase. As only a portion of your hair are growing at any one time, a course of treatments four to six weeks apart are required. Starting now will mean smooth, silky skin in time for your special day.  Your razor will be one less thing to pack for your honeymoon

Picture Perfect Wedding

Congratulations on your engagement! Planning your wedding is such an exciting time; flowers, dresses, centrepieces... but what about you? Our beautiful Perth bride (or groom)?

This Dream Wedding series will let you know exactly what you can do and when to ensure you are the glowing bride you see in the magazines. Be sure to check back with us for updates to the series.

Twelve Months until I DO

Skin Consultation

We all want to look and feel beautiful, especially on our wedding day, so it's important to start planning your treatment regime with plenty of time.  Twelve months before the big day is a great time to come in for a free consultation.

Our Registered Nurses will instantly put you at ease as they talk to you about your face, skin and body concerns and will write you a personalised treatment plan advising which treatments would be best suited to you. This is a great time to have treatments that require a longer down-time, and start those that require multiple sessions!

Fraxel 1550 Laser

The Fraxel 1550 Laser treatments are great for deeper skin rejuvenation, acne scarring, and other scarring including chicken pox.  Fraxel 1550 heats deep into the dermis, stimulating the skin's healing response and stimulating collagen. As it is fractional, only a portion of the skin is treated each session so usually 3 - 5 treatments are required.

You can expect a down time of 5 - 7 days after Fraxel 1550, although some pinkness hue to the skin for a number of weeks (this is easily covered by mineral makeup). For more information, see our video and before and after Fraxel images. Best resuls appear 4 - 6 weeks after the treatments so starting now will give you plenty of time to smooth and brigthen your skin.

Erbium Laser

Erbium Laser offers a resurfacing treatment to erase fine lines, minimise deeper lines and scarring  and treat all forms of pigmentation. This is our strongest laser treatment and 7 - 10 days of down time (best friends only for the first week!) as you can expects redness, swelling and oozing. The pinkness to the skin can persist for several months (though is well covered with mineral makeup) which is why we recommend you think about it at least 6 months before any special event.

One treatment will usually give you great results, but for deeper lines or acne scarring some clients may need two to three. Our nurses can advise you on how many you  might need.

Due to the ability of Erbium Laser to target stubborn and advanced skin concerns, it is highly recommended for older clients who sunbaked before the Slip, Slop, Slap message was prominent. Look at our dramatic Erbium before and after pictures and see if this is the treatment for you. This is also a great treatment option for the Mother-Of-The-Bride who will also want to look fantastic for the day.

Tattoo Removal

Tattoos are no longer a rarity, with a large percentage of the population now sporting permanent ink designs on their skin. But if you've fallen out of love with your tattoo, we can help.

Getting ink in to your skin is quick, but removing it is a much slower process, and generally it takes ten to fourteen treatments to fully remove the design so the earlier you start before your wedding, the better! Black and red inks respond the best to our Revlite laser, while green and blue can take extra time, as can heavily pigmented cover ups.

Katie's CoolSculpting Experience

Friday, January 19, 2018

After attending an Advanced CoolSculpting Study Day on the east coast, I was given four cycles of CoolSculpting to use on myself when I got back to Skin Resus in Perth.

With new knowledge and skills about CoolSculpting, I was very excited to use these cycles on myself ASAP! The issue I had was, what area do I treat?

My upper arms have been an issue for me since I was about 17; even with exercise and weight loss in the past, the fat on my upper arms never wanted to shift (and by shift I wanted it to move out of town for good). I had even considered having some form of surgery to the area in order to reduce it to a size that would allow me to wear tops without sleeves and not feel like they were going to be on the front page of the newspaper as newly discovered “mass objects”. So the decision was made: I was going to have Coolsculpting on my arms!

On the day of my treatment I wasn’t nervous at all; I was excited and looking forward to getting it done so the process, called cryolipolysis, could begin.

When the applicator was applied, it was like a very strong vacuum cleaner getting caught on my arms, with a slight pinching and cooling sensation which I could easily deal with. I wouldn’t say I have a high pain tolerance at all, but I certainly found it bearable. After five minutes my upper arms went numb and I was completely comfortable as I watched a movie and on the iPad provided to pass the time. I wasn't in any discomfort, just restricted physically as I had to stay in one position during treatment.

The hour went by quickly and before I knew it, it was time for the applicator to be removed and the treated area to be massaged. This part of the treatment is said to be the most uncomfortable, and it defiantly was very achy; I felt like I had a large bruise being massaged. The massage is an essential part of the treatment and must be done thoroughly, but it only lasts a few minutes. I left feeling a little tired and my arms were cool, and numb to touch. I have quite long arms so for me, two cycles each side were needed, so the process was repeated until I'd had my four cycles.

Over the next few days I had swelling in the area, a little bit of bruising and my arms were tender to touch, but it did not stop me from carrying out any of my normal activities.

Results can usually be seen anywhere between 3-12 weeks after treatment, and I noticed it about 9-10 weeks post treatment when I found myself wearing a singlet top and not grabbing for my light cardigan to cover up. It dawned on me that this has done exactly what I wanted! My photos proved it and I am ecstatic with the results! If you’re looking for something that is minimal risk and minimal downtime, Coolsculpting is where it’s at.
