Blood facial, vampire facelift, prp... we love it.

Trish Hepburn - Monday, April 15, 2013

Well I never thought I'd say this, but thank you Kim Kardashian! Last month she had a "blood facial" on her reality TV program and while we think they were doing it wrong (you should use just the clear plasma portion of the blood, not whole blood) it really got everyone talking about one of our favourite treatments.   We've been doing  Platelet Rich Plasma (or PRP) at Skin Resus for 3 years now and it really is a fantastic way to re-invigorate thin, crepey skin. The treatment involves taking a small sample of your blood (about 10mls) and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet and plasma component. The "platelet-rich plasma" can then be either injected just under the skin (a traditional PRP treatment) or applied to the surface of the skin and then worked in with a dermaroller (a 'Blood Facial').

Vampire Facial

The traditional PRP treatment is great for very crepey skin (like neck, chest or hands, or for plumping up deephollows under the eyes). A blood facial is ideal for those wanting to give their skin texture a major boost, or to target fine lines or acne scarring.  Prices start from just $375 and the full price list is on our website. For this month, just say "vampire" when you book your PRP or Blood Facial and we'll take 20% off our already great prices!
