What is facial volume loss?
When we are young, our faces are quite V-shaped, with a fine, defined jaw line and smooth contours, and our cheeks and upper face are full of volume. As we get older, this V begins to invert. Our muscles, fat and even bone is re-distributed, so that the mid-face loses volume, while the lower face gains volume. This volume shift results in hollowed areas near the eyes and cheeks. Lines between the nose, mouth and chin will also become deeper and more pronounced.
How is facial volume loss treated?
Dermal fillers are a simple and very effective way to revolumise the face. Lost volume may cause folds, wrinkles and flattening of the face, and dermal fillers help to plump and lift, resulting in a very natural looking rejuvenation.
At Skin Resus, we use a non-animal fillers which are allergy-free, and are broken down by the body over time. Most dermal fillers last from 9 to 12 months, though some longer lasting fillers are available.

What is dermal filler treatment like?
Treatment with dermal filler is a quick and easy process, and usually takes 30-40 minutes. The gel is injected into the treatment areas producing volume under the skin and helping to lift hollows and restore youthful curves. Most people find the injections painless, though local anaesthetic can be used if desired. Read more about dermal filler treatments at Skin Resus.
The cost of cheek enhancement depends on the amount of product used. Our practitioners will tailor a package to suit your individual needs, and your budget.
What should I expect after facial volume loss treatment?
One of the great things about dermal fillers is that results can be seen immediately. Some swelling may be present for a few days, and bruising can occasionally occur. If you are prone to bruising, there's a few things you can do before your treatment to minimise this. Ask us about it when you book your appointment. Makeup can be applied right away (we'll be happy to apply it for you) so you can walk out looking and feeling great.
