What is the Revlite Laser?

This powerful Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is one of the most technologically advanced lasers for removing all forms of pigmentation. It works by firing very high energy, short pulses of light that target pigmentation and shatters it into smaller pieces. These tiny fragments are then removed by the body’s immune system.

What can be treated with the Revlite Laser?

Tattoos - The tiny tattoo pigments attract the laser light, and selectively fragments the tattoo ink. A course of treatments will be needed for tattoo removal. Multi-coloured and professional tattoos are generally harder to remove than single coloured or amateur tattoos and require more treatments. Complete removal of the tattoo pigment is not always possible.

Skin Pigmentation - The Revlite Laser is very effective in the treatment of all pigmentation problems. It is particularly useful to treat pigment that is resistant to other treatments, such as very light coloured freckles, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Deeper pigmentation such as birthmarks also respond well to the Revlite. The precise controls of the Revlite allows our doctors to very accurately target lesions, so individual pigment spots can be treated while leaving the surrounding skin untouched.

What is a Revlite Laser treatment like?

Treatment with the Revlite Laser is very fast. To make treatment more comfortable, we recommend that local anaesthetic cream such as EMLA is used on the skin for about an hour prior to the treatment.

The treatment can be uncomfortable, and ice is often used on the skin to reduce pain. Small areas can be treated in minutes, larger ones may take up to an hour. After treatment the area is covered with Bepanthen cream. This should be applied twice daily for 1 – 5 days after the treatment. Blistering can occasionally occur.
