Solutions for Lines and Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles are one of the most obvious signs of ageing, and one of the most common concerns we treat at Skin Resus. We have some fantastic treatments for lines and wrinkles, including anti-wrinkle injectables, laser resurfacing, collagen simulators and active skin care.

The best treatment for your wrinkles depends on where they are, how deep they are and how long you would like the results to last. Skin Resus has a number of extremely safe and effective methods of reducing or eliminating facial lines and wrinkles. Some are particularly effective for lines on the upper face, such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. Small injections into the muscles where the wrinkles occur is a quick and painless way of preventing movement and thus active lines. The effects take 2 – 7 days to appear and usually last 3 – 4 months. There is no down time after this type of treatment, although occasionally a small bruise can occur. Read more here.

This solution is used to plump and fill fine, medium and deep lines, such as naso-labial lines, marionette lines, lip lines and smokers’ lines. They can also be used to hydrate and thicken the skin so that fine lines are less apparent. This is a long-lasting option from 6 to 12 months for example in lips, to some years in the tear troughs. Results are seen immediately. There is often no down time after treatment, but mild swelling can be present for a few days, and bruising can occasionally occur. Laser resurfacing, using lasers such as the Erbium or CO2 Lasers, is very effective at reducing or eliminating lines and wrinkles and tightening loose skin. We use the Sciton Joule Erbium Laser in our Floreat clinic and see great results. Most clients are happy after a single treatment, though for deeper lines or for more delicate areas such as the neck and chest, two or more treatments may be needed. You can expect 7 – 10 days down time after Laser Resurfacing, and best results are seen 1 – 3 months after the treatment. Results are permanent, though of course it won’t halt the ageing process. Collagen is a protein produced by our cells that helps “hold” the skin together, giving it firmness and elasticity. When we’re young, our skin stays plump and smooth because it constantly regenerates itself. But as we age, collagen production slows – and existing collagen can get damaged due to sun exposure and bad skin habits. The result? Lines and wrinkles. Active skin care (see below) can increase collagen production, but to really give it a boost we recommend any (or all) of the following treatments:

You can spend a lot of money on skin care that smells nice and is moisturising, but really does very little. But after years of dermatologist-led research, there is now very strong evidence about the power of active skin care in reducing lines and wrinkles. A true anti-ageing skin care regime should include:

• Sunscreen – because prevention is always better than a cure
• Anti-oxidants – to protect and repair damage from free radicals
• Retinol cream – to boost collagen production and increase cell turnover
• Fruit Acids and Lactic Acids – to exfoliate and leave your skin glowing
• Peptides and Growth Factors – to firm skin and stimulate collagen
